We specialise in Complex Behaviours

Complex behaviours, sometimes called behaviours of concern or challenging behaviours, are often a sign that something isn't right in a person's world. Maybe their needs aren't being met. Maybe their environment isn't working for them. Maybe past experiences are shaping how they respond to the present.

At Infinite Disability Services, we don't see behaviour as a problem to fix. We see it as a message to understand. Our approach is grounded in Positive Behaviour Support (PBS), an evidence-based framework that focuses on understanding why behaviour happens and building strategies that improve quality of life for everyone involved.

Who we support

We work with people across the Illawarra, Southern Highlands, and South Coast who experience:
Physical aggression toward others
Self-injurious behaviour
Property damage
Withdrawal and avoidance
Communication difficulties that lead to frustration
Behaviours linked to trauma, anxiety, or sensory needs
Behaviours that put safety at risk for the person or those around them
We support children, young people, and adults. We also work closely with families, carers, and other providers to make sure everyone is on the same page.

Our approach to Behaviour Support

Step 1: Listen and learn

We start by getting to know the person, their history, their strengths, their preferences, and their triggers. We conduct a thorough functional behaviour assessment to understand what's driving the behaviour.

Step 2: Plan together

We develop a Behaviour Support Plan in partnership with the participant, their family, and their wider support team. This plan is practical, clear, and built around the person's goals.

Step 3: Put it into action

Our trained support workers deliver the plan day-to-day. We also train families and other carers so everyone feels confident and consistent.

Step 4: Review and adapt

Behaviour changes over time, so our plans do too. We monitor progress, adjust strategies, and keep the lines of communication open.

What sets us apart

This is our speciality, not a side service

Complex behaviour support is at the core of what we do, not an add-on.

Trained, experienced staff

Our support workers receive ongoing training in PBS, trauma-informed practice, and de-escalation.

We reduce restrictive practices

We actively work toward the least restrictive options. Restrictive practices are a last resort, not a first response.

We collaborate

We work alongside allied health professionals, support coordinators, and families to deliver coordinated support.

NDIS Registered

We meet all NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission requirements for behaviour support.

Is this funded by the NDIS?

Yes. Complex behaviour support falls under NDIS funding for participants who have behaviours of concern that affect their daily life, safety, or ability to take part in the community. Your support coordinator or plan manager can help you access this funding. If you're not sure where to start, contact us and we'll walk you through it.
